Rosemary Hair Benefits
#1 For Hair Growth

A clinical trial conducted in 2015 pitted rosemary oil and minoxidil (Rogaine) together and rosemary oil have proved to be as effective as minoxidil in treating hair loss and alopecia. Other studies have also shown that rosemary does not only help with stimulating hair growth but also helps treat itchy scalp. Furthermore, rosemary has antimicrobial properties that can remove dirt and bacteria that live on the scalp. Removing these can provide a clean environment for the hair follicle to thrive and grow healthy.
#2 For Scalp Cleanse
Another amazing use of rosemary is that it has antibacterial properties that can help thoroughly cleanse the scalp and stop the cultivation of bacteria, excess oil, and fungus that may cause dandruff. Rosemary, combined with a scalp massage, can improve blood circulation, and help the hair follicles to grow healthier. Rosemary has also been shown to rejuvenate the nerve tissues in the scalp and heal damaged nerve endings. This, in turn, can heal and restore optimal scalp health. Here are some scalp issues that can be treated with rosemary:
- Dry scalp
- Itchy scalp
- Dandruff and Fungus
- Irritated and inflamed scalp
#3 For Hair Protection
Our hair is prone to damage and can easily break. According to experts, the scalp ages 6 times faster than our facial skin and 12 times faster than the skin in our body. When it ages, the hair can lack elasticity and can be more exposed to faster breakage. This can also disrupt hair growth and cause hair to be gray. Rosemary is an antioxidant that not only helps strengthen hair follicles but also protects them from breakage and losing elasticity.
#4 For Added Shine
Rosemary oil can help reduce frizz by locking in moisture on your strands and keep it hydrated and moisturized. Some people use rosemary tea as a rinse to get shiny locks and revitalize dull strands. While some uses it as a leave in conditioner by making a DIY rosemary spray.
