The skin around the eyes is the thinnest and most fragile part of our skin. That is why most signs of aging can be first seen around your eyes and can make you look older than you really are. Wrinkles and crow’s feet can easily crawl around your eye area if you do not put extra care into it.

Some may say that Botox is the only answer to banish these signs of aging. However, this procedure will eventually fade, and you will be back to step 1. For us, the best way to tackle wrinkles is by preventing and by treating the root cause of it. This article will show you how you can erase eye wrinkles and other signs of aging. Read below to know more...

5 Ways To Prevent Under Eye Wrinkles

#1 Incorporate Anti-Aging Products To Your Skincare

Retinol is a powerful anti-aging ingredient that is a derivative of Vitamin A. Retinol helps boost collagen production making skin look plump and smooth. According to Harvard Health, retinoids may help fade signs of aging and improve skin color by stimulating new blood vessels to the skin and boost its overall health. A continued use of 6 –12 months will yield remarkable results in reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Niacinamide is another ingredient to look for if you want to rid eye wrinkles and dark circles. A 2015 clinical trial was conducted to determine the effect of niacinamide on wrinkles and overall skin appearance. The result was a significant improvement in the skin’s appearance and a reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, and elasticity were observed. The clinical trial also showed that Niacinamide helped with the female subjects’ hyperpigmentation and complexion.

Caffeine is a natural antioxidant that is known to protect the skin from harmful free radicals that cause sagging skin and wrinkles. Because of its rejuvenating power, caffeine can help reduce eye puffiness and dark circles.

Vitamin C

Lack of collagen on the skin can trigger fine lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that can help restore collagen to the skin and minimize the appearance of signs of aging. When applied topically, Vitamin C can also improve the elasticity of the skin delaying pre-mature wrinkling.

The sun and constant UV ray exposure can cause premature aging. If your skin is not protected from the harmful UV rays, wrinkles and fines lines may appear earlier and deeper. Using SPF daily can offer your skin UV protection and shield you from the strong glare of the sun. This is a crucial step in skin care because the skin around the eye is extremely sensitive and thinner than the rest of the skin, making it more prone to damage faster.

#2 Try Facial Exercise

Facial yoga, also called facial exercise, is another way to help reduce the appearance of eye wrinkles and crow’s feet. Facial yoga helps stimulate blood flow to the area and promote lymphatic drainage and in turn, reduces eye puffiness. Facial yoga also help relax the facial muscles and provide an instant eye lift.

#3 Be Gentle To Your Eyes

The skin around the undereye area is very delicate and thin that putting extra pressure on this area can cause fine lines to develop. It is important to be gentle with the skin on your eye area so here are some tips to do that:

  • When removing your mascara, refrain from drag the cotton to your eye back and forth. Instead, soak a cotton pad with your makeup remover and press it lightly on your skin or use a gently cleansing balm to remove your makeup.
  • Avoid rubbing your eye
  • Don’t pull on your skin around your eye
  • When applying creams and serums, pat the product using your ring finger to apply little pressure

#4 Consider Taking Supplements

Adding skin vitamins and supplements can help improve the overall texture and appearance of the skin. This means less wrinkle formation and reversing photoaging. Some supplements that are good for the skin are Vitamin C, Biotin, Collagen, and Vitamin E.
